Well, it looks like we are off on another adventure. This time I am going to try to send my journal to Ken Smith, a friend and classmate of Michael’s, who has so graciously agreed to put the journal and the pictures I can send to him on it for me. I will write of our trip and try to send the information by email to Ken when I get to a place with internet. As you know, these are usually very wordy, and you certainly don’t need to feel obliged to read everything, but if you are interested, you can always check in with him to see any new posts. After our Danube trip last year we have decided to travel along the Adriatic. We will visit Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia/ Herzegovina, and Slovenia. Again, I have read very little about these countries, so I’m anxious to learn all I can. We did visit the eastern part of Croatia on our last trip however. We will be traveling overland, and will be with many fellow travelers from years before. We have traveled extensively with the “outlaws”, Leona and Vic Fisher, who are Erick’s in-laws. We have traveled with Janet and Jerold Smith on the Russian Trip and along the Danube (I taught with Janet for many years at Biggs Elementary, and now we are Art Docent volunteers there). Janet’s sister Wanda and husband Phillip and their good friend Linda Ronk, all living in Southern California, were fellow travelers on our Russian trip as well. Joan Boomer and Sheryl Kuhn, our good friends from Lake Madrone, will also be there with us (as they were in our Danube trip). For our pre-trip in Albania we will meet up with new friends, Barbara Bergen from New Jersey, and Mary Ann Sinkkonen from Mill Valley, California. During the main trip we will have Clara and Richard Park from Texas joining us. With just fifteen traveling on the main trip and 12 on the pre-trip, it should be great. We look forward to traveling with all of them. Generally, I write my journal to keep the family at home knowing where we are and what we are doing. I also keep it to remind our feeble minds what we did after we get home, when all the experiences just meld into a wonderful but jumbled adventure. If the journal gets too much for you, or you just aren't interested, with it on this website, you know you don’t have to come to this website anymore. Yep, I even saved you from a “pinky delete” of my e-mails. This cruise is billed as “Crossroads of the Adriatic”, an Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT trip). We really prefer this travel group as it delivers “Adventure, Value and Discovery on the Road Less Traveled”. We really appreciate Ken's effort in posting our trip, we know it's a big job.
Grove, Michael and the fellow travelers
A Note From Ken: When Grove and Mike left on their trip, my wife and I left on a trip of our own to the east coast, and when we arrived in Washington D.C. my computer breathed its last. My apologies to all concerned for the delay in getting a new computer and then restoring all of the software necessary to post the website. I hope that you enjoy the trip with the Dahls, even if it is later than we planned.
